Peter Lenz

Peter Lenz is a New York based drummer and composer. Originally from Austria he grew up in Straden, a town in the beautiful southeastern part of the country. This region is known for its excellent white wines, great food and plenty of marching bands; all of which Peter got introduced to at an early age. Playing mostly pop and rock music he discovered jazz at the local music school and later enrolled at the University of Music and dramatic Arts in Graz/Austria. After two years of living and studying in Rotterdam, Holland, Peter moved to New York on the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship where he graduated as a scholar student from the Master's Program at the internationally renowned Manhattan School of Music. Peter is currently a member of the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop in NYC and co-leads the Peter Lenz/Billy Test Large Ensemble.

In 2012 his debut "It Is But It's Not It" was released on Unit Records (Switzerland) and features his quintet Peter Lenz' Silent Flow. His latest recording "Lithium" is a co-release on Skirl Records and Session Work Records and features saxophonist/clarinetist Chris Speed, guitarist Reinier Baas and bassist Stefan Lievestro.
